Hi! Welcome to nat in love! I'm so excited to finally be starting something I'm so passionate about! Let me begin with sharing a little bit about myself and about what it is that I'm so madly in love with! My name is Nathalie Maxey, and I was born and raised in Honduras. I moved to the US back in 2004 to finish my degree in Computer Science, thanks to Rotary's GRSP Program. I'm married to a wonderful man, Whit, and we've been married for almost 3 years! I currently work as a Web Developer, doing mostly Front-End development. As you can imagine, the IT world is very black-and-white, where logic and function are usually valued more than form and design. The more time I spend in my cubicle life, the more I feel the need to express myself through a new creative outlet.
So what am I so in love with, obsessed even? I am 100% head over heels about fashion! What's so funny about it, is that growing up it was quite the opposite. I hated going shopping since nothing seemed to fit. I would get so frustrated and discouraged every time! I've always been a petite girl, which is an issue on its own. Now add to that, living in a third world country where the fashion industry was quite behind! Clothes in the kids department were full of Disney characters and cheesy prints, and women's clothes were huge on me. So fast forward a few years and here I am, madly in love with what used to cause me so much angst and pain! I hope to make nat in love a place where not only I can share my love for great style, but where I tackle everyday fashion problems. ¡Hola! Bienvenidos a nat in love! Estoy super emocionada de finalmente estar empezando algo que me apasiona tanto! Permítanme comenzar compartiéndoles un poco sobre mí y sobre qué es lo que me tiene tan enamorada. Mi nombre es Nathalie Maxey, nací y crecí en Honduras. Me mudé a los Estados Unidos en el 2004 para completar mi pregrado en Computer Science, gracias al programa GRSP de Rotary. Tengo un esposo maravilloso, Whit, y llevamos casi 3 años de casados! Trabajo como Web Developer, haciendo mayormente Front-End development. Como se pueden imaginar, el mundo de IT es muy blanco y negro, donde la lógica y función suelen ser valorados más que la forma y el diseño. Cuanto más tiempo paso en mi vida de cubículo, mucho más siento la necesidad de expresarme a través de una nueva avenida creativa.
Entonces, ¿qué es lo que me tiene tan enamorada, obsesionada, incluso? Estoy 100% loca por la moda! Lo más gracioso sobre esto, es que al crecer era totalmente lo opuesto. Odiaba ir de compras porque nada me quedaba bien. Me sentía tan frustrada y desanimada cada vez! Siempre he sido una chava 'petite', lo cual es un problema por su cuenta. Ahora agréguenle a eso, viviendo en un país en desarrollo donde la industria de la moda estaba bien atrasada! La ropa en el departamento de niños estaba llena de personajes de Disney y de telas infantiles, y la ropa de mujer me quedaba gigante. Adelanten unos cuantos años y aquí estoy, completamente enamorada de la misma cosa que antes me causaba tanta angustia y frustración! Espero poder hacer a nat in love un lugar donde no sólo puedo compartir mi amor por el buen estilo, pero donde puedo hacer frente a los problemas de moda de la vida diaria. Espero que se queden un rato y vean como esta chava toma el estilo a la vida real un dia a la vez. Gracias por venir!
