It's funny how some things can remind you of the most random things! I have typically stayed away from khaki shorts because they always
reminded me of 2 things: tourists and missionaries. Growing up in a third world country means you get to see a lot of these groups of "Americans." Since countries like mine have such a need, groups take missionary trips all time to help out. At the same time, Honduras has several gorgeous vacation spots so you see a lot of tourists too. I understand the need for comfy and disposable clothes on trips like these, but I always found it funny just how many of them wore worn-out khaki shorts and those hideous sandals! Haha. So when I stumbled upon these shorts one day, I hesitated buying them. I couldn't shake off that mental image, but I wondered if I could make them into a cute outfit. After thinking about it for a bit, I decided to get them and disprove the stereotype I had in my head.
I wore this out on a casual Saturday with the Mr. not long ago. I started with the shorts, then I added a bright, striped tee and since I pretty much live in heels, I added some olive green heels to make it my own.
PS. I don't usually wear pleated pants/shorts since they make you look bigger, so beware of that when shopping for pants and shorts!

Es gracioso como algunas cosas te pueden recuerdar de las cosas más al azar! Típicamente he huido de usar shorts caqui porque siempre me recordaban de 2 cosas: turistas y misioneros. Creciendo en un país en desarrollo significa que uno ve muchos de estos grupos de "Americanos." Ya que países como el mío tienen gran necesidad, grupos toman bastantes viajes misioneros para ayudar. Al mismo tiempo, Honduras tiene varios lugares bellos para vacacionar, así que uno ve bastantes turistas también. Yo entiendo la necesidad en viajes como éstos de usar ropa cómoda y desechable, pero siempre me pareció gracioso que tantos de ellos usaban shorts caqui desgastados y esas sandalias horribles! Jaja. Así que cuando me encontré con estos shorts un día, dudé en comprarlos. No podía sacudir esa imagen mental, pero me preguntaba si tal vez podía convertirlos en un atuendo lindo. Después de pensarlo por un rato, decidí comprarlos y rechazar ese estereotipo que tenía en mi mente.
Usé este atuendo un sábado casual con mi esposo, hace poco. Empezé con los shorts, después agregué una camisa brillante, de rayas y ya que prácticamente vivo en tacones, agregué unos tacones de color verde olivo para hacer este atuendo más mío.
PD. No suelo usar pantalones/shorts con pliegues ya que te hacen ver más grande, así que ten cuidado cuando andas de compras de pantalones y shorts!
